Our vintage kantha coats have been created from heirloom vintage blankets sourced from all over Rajasthan. Our master tailors have re-imagined them into very unique and beautiful Coats.
Made from 100% cotton Kantha, which is a centuries old tradition of stitching patchwork cloth from rags. It is re-cycling in its oldest form, whereby villages would give old textiles new life. Old saris, lungis and dhotis, made incredibly soft through wear, would be re-threaded in a long kantha stitch in layers to create new strong fabric - recycling at its best!
Each Coat is reversible so you get two in one, and are completely unique.
Featuring deep patch front pockets on both sides of the coat, long sleeves which can be folded back to get the contrast of the other side, and a comfortable shawl collar.
Theses are an open style duster coat with no buttons, a beautiful and versatile layer piece to take you through every season.
We have made these a free size this time around as there is a lot of flexibility in the sizing being an open robe style coat.
Every coat is different in its thickness depending on the blanket used.
Chest - 105cm with front pulled closed, to approx - 118cm open.
Across back arm seam to arm seam - 42cm.
Sleeve Length - 60cm.
Length - 78cm.
Each blanket has been hand picked by founder Dan, every one for its print, colour and quality. Please note as these are made from vinatge blankets they will not be perfect. Some blankets are worn in spots, faded, and some are patched.... we believe this only adds to their beautiful history and story, and makes them even more special. But if you are after an immaculate piece then these are probably not for you. Please bear this in mind when purchasing a vintage re-imagined garment.
We recommend giving a very gentle cold hand wash only when absolutely necessary. Or alternatively only airing these out on a hanger in the breeze.
As they are made from very old fabrics great care must be taken with them.
No dryer, no iron.
Wear with joy - you are beautiful and one of a kind.
